Paris shoppers were flabbergasted when this Platinum hitmaker dropped in to sing his signature song during a shopping mall piano jam. YouTuber Emilio Piano was playing at the mall when a girl asked him to play Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.” As Emilio began playing, Swims himself walked right in. The R&B star then declared, “Hey, that’s my song!” and, not one to miss an opportunity, started singing along.
Shoppers instantly went quiet and formed a crowd, shocked by the appearance of the rising star singing right in front of them. Crowd members quickly got out their phones or just simply sang along with Swims as he nailed the iconic vocal lines of “Lose Control.” And by the way, if anyone were wondering if Swims was the real deal vocally, well, this video definitely proved it, as his live vocals without even so much as a mic sound amazing.
Emelio uploaded the video on May 6, 2024, and the surprise performance has already gained 3.3 million views on his channel. Fans were mighty impressed with what Swims laid down and added comments such as “Two exceptional musicians. This is a dream pairing and it just makes you crave for more. Definitely a favourite” and “This is what happens when you have two people that are the best at what they do. An absolute masterclass!”
Emelio presented the video as if it was a spontaneous appearance by Swims, but a few viewers pointed out that the star’s appearance just in time to sing the opening line of his hit was a little bit too convenient. No one really seemed to mind, though, as the consensus was that it was just amazing to hear Swims perform in such a raw and unfiltered way. Another popular video from Emelio features customers at a cafe reacting to two pro opera singers joining his piano jam.
Swims co-wrote “Lose Control” with a team of four other songwriters and released it on June 23, 2023. The soul star dropped the song as the second single from his debut album I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1).
“Lose Control” was Swims’ first song to enter the Billboard Hot 100. It became a sleeper hit after debuting at number 99 on the chart and eventually reached number one in March 2024. The song has since been certified double Platinum in the UK and US, as well as going multi-Platinum in multiple European markets.
