This video of British comedian David Armand miming to Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ will probably be the funniest thing you see all year! The comedian pulls hilarious facial expressions and makes the live audience scream with laughter as he acts out the lyrics to the track for two fellow guests on cult game show ‘Fast and Loose’. The video of his mime has since rocketed to over 14 million views on YouTube and has even the most hardcore Queen fans praising Armand’s creative humour.
One of the video’s viewers even reminded fellow fans of a quote that proved Freddie Mercury himself would have probably loved the mime – “do what you want with my music but don’t make me boring.” It’s safe to say that Armand’s mime is anything but boring; not only are his funny poses and actions an extremely inventive and amusing way of getting the lyrics across, but it’s also mind-boggling to see how quickly he has to move from one action to another in order to keep in time with the track.
‘Fast and Loose’ is no longer shown on our TV screens, and it actually only ran for one season, but some Music Man readers out there might remember that it was hosted by comedian and actor Hugh Dennis, and that it was created by the man behind the popular improvisational comedy show ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’. During its one-season run, the show featured numerous well-known faces in comedy including Greg Davies, Ruth Bratt, and Justin Edwards, with Armand also appearing in every episode.
Armand’s specialty was definitely his hilarious mimes to the lyrics of well-known songs, and many are still available to watch on YouTube. Alongside his Queen performance, one of Armand’s most popular mimes involved him acting out the words to Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time’ in his typical melodramatic and comical manner. He illustrated the title of the song, for instance, by pretending to hit himself in the face, then frantically rock an invisible baby, before pointing at his wristwatch!
