One day Jacob Koopman was busking on Grafton Street, and two of the biggest pop stars on the planet rolled up on him, changing his life forever. The young man was singing and playing guitar, and Lewis Capaldi and Niall Horan could be seen enjoying the performance behind him. The two modern pop giants then made their way to Koopman’s mic and amazed the crowd by singing an epic duet together!

Capaldi bantered with Koopman and Horan, instantly putting big smiles on the faces of everyone there. The group sang Capaldi’s hit “Before You Go,” each taking turns on lead vocals. The crowd understood the assignment and sang along to every word, making for a truly magical moment. This is one special street performance that you definitely don’t want to miss out on.

The performance was made really special not only by the appearance of the two megastars, but also by the fact that Capaldi was so hyped for it. His energy throughout was just off the charts, and he was having such a ball interacting with the other performers and the crowd. His positive vibe was absolutely infectious, and it was enough to turn the whole performance into a big party.

The August 6, 2022 performance was uploaded on YouTube by Dublin City Today, where it attracted 1.5 million views. The trio performed together on Grafton Street, which is one of the main shopping hubs in Dublin and has become a popular spot for buskers. The boys weren’t content with just singing one song together, and they also sang Horan’s hit “Slow Hands,” with the former One Direction star providing acoustic guitar for this song.

Jacob Koopman is an Indo-Dutch singer-songwriter based in Dublin. He has 110,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel and has uploaded three street performances that have gained more than a million views.

Koopman’s most popular video features a surprise performance from a crowd member, who joins him for a duet on Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey.” This video attracted 3.3 million views on Koopman’s YouTube channel.

Koopman’s biggest brush with musical stardom no doubt remains his performance with Capaldi and Horan. The trio really shined on Capaldi’s song “Before You Go.” The song was released as the sole new single from the Extended Edition of Capaldi’s debut studio album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. “Before You Go” hit number one on the Irish and UK singles charts in late 2019 and early 2020, respectively.
