It’s no secret that Luke Evans is one of the biggest vocal talents to emerge since the turn of the century, and you might just love hearing what he did on LeAnn Rimes’ classic hit “How Do I Live.” Evans teamed up with Rimes to deliver a masterful duet on the 1997 country pop hit, and his smoky tenor really brought the song to the next level.

The Welsh leading man took the opening verse for the performance and brought a stately energy to the classic. Rimes hit the stage after the first chorus, and then the pair really hit their stride when they sang together to close the song. “How Do I Live” seems like it was meant to be a duet all along, and Evans was just the right man to deliver on that promise.

Evans and Rimes performed “How Do I Live” on December 23, 2022. The Mississippi pop star uploaded a teaser of the performance the following day and commented on her duet with Evans, saying “What a voice and beautiful spirit to share this song and moment with.” The duet proved quite popular online, attracting eight million views across multiple uploads on YouTube and Facebook.

Fans were mighty impressed with the performance and added comments such as, “I love Luke Evans as an actor and now more so as a singer. This performance with Leanne Rhymes is just magical, perfection,” and, “Luke Evans has the type of voice that expresses every feeling so masterfully and duets perfectly with other powerful voices. He’s amazingly talented.” Duets are somewhat of an Evans specialty, as he also brought down the house singing “Beauty and the Beast” with Nicole Scherzinger.

“How Do I Live” was written by Diane Warren and was originally recorded by Rimes for a May 23, 1997 release. The song became the lead single from Rimes’ second studio album You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs.
“How Do I Live” was a huge hit, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and set a record-breaking streak of 69 weeks on the chart. The country pop tune was certified four times Platinum in Rimes’ homeland and was the highest certified country single at the time. This record stood for 12 years until Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” surpassed it with an eight times Platinum certification.
It has become Rimes’ signature song and remains her most popular song on streaming services, with 219 million streams clocked on Spotify.
